Emily Dwyer is a founding Partner of Doherty & Dwyer, P.C. Emily defends construction managers, general contractors, subcontractors, equipment suppliers, other businesses, and insurers in the litigation of insured claims arising out of industrial accidents, construction site accidents, and business automobile accidents. Emily represents clients in civil litigation of cases involving alleged personal injuries, wrongful death, and property damage under their general liability insurance policies, often involving both tort and contract law.

Emily defends claims brought against these businesses’ workers’ compensation insurance policies as well.  Emily is experienced at defending workers’ compensation insurers from claims arising out of distinct industrial accidents, repetitive industrial injuries, asbestos exposure, and in litigation involving multiple claims and/or multiple insurers, as well as defending employers from claims brought directly against them.

Emily practices in all federal and state courts in Massachusetts and at the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents. Emily’s significant experience defending both general liability and workers’ compensation claims for contractors serves as a unique resource for Doherty & Dwyer, P.C.’s clients. Emily works with the firm’s clients and their insurance teams to ensure that litigation defense strategies for each case and claim are consistently communicated, reviewed, and updated as necessary to ensure written discovery, depositions, motions, evidentiary hearings, and alternative dispute resolution are utilized to achieve the most efficient and cost-effective results.

Emily is a zealous advocate and trusted advisor for Doherty & Dwyer, P.C.’s clients. She is regularly engaged to provide legal advice and opinions applying her varied experience to assist clients and their insurers with developing and implementing strategies as part of their risk management, claims management, in anticipation of future litigation, in litigation, and through appeals.

Prior to founding Doherty & Dwyer, P.C., Emily was a Senior Associate at Toomey & Associates, P.C. from 2011 through September, 2018, and an Associate and then Senior Associate at Toomey & Yudysky, LLP from 2002 through 2011.
